Norwegian based crane hire company Kynningsrud is taking Norway’s commitment to net zero by 2030 seriously after taking delivery of the first fully electric Liebherr LR1250 unplugged in May 2021. Since being delivered to its first project, a sports centre development in Oslo the crane has performed extremely well. Since Liebherr and other manufacturers have launched fully electric cranes and plant there is still some doubt about how effective and efficient these bits of equipment are due to charge times or needing to be plugged in to a power supply, but now that JCB are investing millions of pounds into Hydrogen power this seems to be the more practical and efficient form for power of such heavy plant and hopefully Liebherr will start to look at this technology soon.
