🇮🇪Global Wind Projects completes first Irish onshore wind installation🇮🇪

Leading UK provider of onshore wind crane and installation services, Global Wind Projects, has completed its first onshore wind contract in Ireland. The company, which was created in April 2021 by Global Port Services - part of the Inverness and Aberdeen-based energy sector service group, Global Energy Group - clinched contracts to provide installation and M&E completion services for long term client, Nordex, at wind farms in Galway, Mayo and Offaly.

The first of the three contracts saw Global Wind Projects provide installation and M&E services for 19 N149 turbines at the Rockgrid Ltd.-owned 101MW Ardderroo Wind Farm in County Galway. Works, which commenced in December 2022 and were recently completed.

Following completion of works at Ardderroo, Global Wind Projects will complete the installation of a further 5 onshore wind turbines for Nordex at ABO Wind Ireland’s Sheskin Wind Farm in County Mayo (recently commenced) and 29 more at SSE’s Yellow River Wind Farm in County Offaly.

Speaking about the contract wins, Global Wind Projects General Manager, Ryan Burke, commented:

“We are delighted to have made a successful first foray into the Irish market. At Ardderroo it was pleasing to be able to mobilise our team at short notice to assist a valued, long-term client.

“This contract, and the two follow on projects, will see us mobilise a team of 40 personnel to sites in Galway, Mayo and Offaly and in due course we will establish a separate Irish entity to service the growing market there.”

Graham Pogson, Director of Projects, Nordex UK & Ireland, commented:

“Building on the success of projects last year within Scotland, Nordex are looking forward to working with Global Wind Projects across several projects in Ireland throughout 2023 and 2024.”

Global Wind Projects (a division of Global Port Services) was established to address the unprecedented growth in onshore and offshore wind around the UK and Ireland.
