Europe’s largest specialist auction house for the buying and selling of industrial plant, construction equipment and agricultural machinery has gained a reputation for being the premiere way to dispose of mobile cranes.
In 2022 Euro Auctions were instructed to dispose of cranes and rigging stocks and rigging for Quinto Crane Hire, M&M Crane Hire and NMT Crane Hire, three of the most prominent disposal sales of the year. The acumen the Dromore based auctioneers have gained in the heavy lifting market, in addition to being the leading construction equipment auctioneers in Europe, makes Euro Auctions the top resellers of cranes in the UK in 2022.
Adding to the notable results of 2022, when Hewden went into administration, Euro Auctions were catapulted to ‘crane prominence’ as architects of the world’s largest crane sale, selling 127 cranes from Hewden’s rental fleet, from 35 to 220 tonnes, at the Newark Showground for €32m. Now Euro Auctions stand proud as the ‘go to’ valuers and auctioneers for the crane sector, not just in the UK, but in Europe.
What made that Hewden sale special was the fact that Euro Auctions had the skills to not only host an off-site sale of monumental scale, including more than 500 lots of general construction equipment, but many of the lots for sale were spread across the UK and had to be re-patriated to the sale site, as well as managing the taking of over €32m in live and internet bids.
During 2022 the three most eminent Euro Auctions crane sales, Quinto Crane Hire, M&M Crane Hire and NMT Crane Hire, the Euro Auctions team showed their worth to the heavy lifting market and in all three sales and the results speak for themselves. In the last 10 years, Euro Auctions has put over the ramp, at its six global auction sites, over £4 billion in sales, such is the strength of the euro Auctions brand.

Euro Auctions valued all equipment, negotiated with six finance companies to settle accounts, then conducted the sale at the client’s own site, the Quinto depot in Norwich, keeping the feel of the sale local, with Quinto in evidence, feeling very much part of the day.

M&M Crane Hire
In 2022, on the 14th September, as part of the Euro Auctions general sale at the 90-acre flagship site in Leeds, 22 ex-rental machines went under the hammer as the directors of the M&M Crane Hire retired from the business.
Lots included Tadano, Liebherr, Terex, Grove, and DAF, with models including 35T, 40T, 45T, 50T, 55T, 60T, 90T and 130T. The sale attracted a true international audience, and when presented in a line, with boom up, it was a great sight to behold. The hammer total for the 22 mobile cranes was £4.6 million.
Euro Auctions can move quickly to dispose of assets. In addition, the main crane inventory and rigging, Euro Auctions sold every asset of the M&M business, from valuation, to hammer-down, in a six-week period, which was a quite extraordinary achievement.

NMT crane hire fleet reduction
In November 2022, Bedfordshire based crane specialist, NMT Crane Hire, instructed Euro Auctions to hold a one-day sale of mobile cranes at their Windsor Road yard in Bedford. In the last 45 years, founding brothers, Nick, Mark, and Tim Ambridge have become one the leading heavy lifting specialists to the construction sector, as well as providing cranes and lifting equipment to the film, TV, events and concert industry. As part of a retirement strategy, the brothers wanted to take things a little easier, passing the baton on to the next generation in the family. Part of that strategy was the rationalising and refreshing of the fleet, making way for new cranes for delivery in 2023, with Euro Auctions conducting the sale.
Part of the final inventory for the sale included the following:

David Betts, Crane Sales Manager at Euro Auctions, comments on recent 2022 crane sales
Euro Auctions has been working with crane operators for the last 10 years and believe we are the only auction specialist that understand the crane sector from a buyer and sellers’point of view. As a result, during the last 12 months Euro Auctions hosted three extraordinary crane sales, attracting a true international buying audience and with our ability to put on an external ‘off site’ sale anywhere in Europe, this enables us to be the perfect partner, creating the perfect sale”.
“That word ‘partner’ is very relative when disposing of machines, as not only can we sell your crane stock, we can also settle outstanding finance agreements, as well as workingwith administrators. Our global reach and targeted marketing campaigns to an educated and committed list of prospective buyers in over 100 countries enables Euro Auctions to present a vendors crane stock to an interested audience, creating a better financial outcome and pain free disposal service”.
“Euro Auctions can help owners to ‘turn’ stock into cash, raising capital for new machines and as we have demonstrated. We know who to gain the attention of qualified buyers. We also understand the lifting market and its machinery and more importantly we can achieve best price for vendors. This makes Euro Auctions a perfect choice when you want to dispose of stock”.
