A large Zoomlion mobile crane has gone over again, this time likely due to a structural failure.
The crane was lifting a large column when the boom bent and snapped close to the heel pin area.
The video and the screenshot give very little away, and as is often the case with where these Chinese cranes are operating, you get very little information. We will have to use our imagination as to what the cause was, which could be a number of things.
• Operator error
• Wind
• Structural failure
Whatever the cause of this incident, this should be a stark reminder to everyone that what we do every day is extremely dangerous and can go wrong very fast.
crane operations do not have to be dangerous in any way right equipment crew planning and supervision!
